Beyond 125 Years: Securing our World’s Digital Future

Beyond 125 Years

Securing our World’s Digital Future

125 years ago, The Hague hosted the first Peace Convention, leading to the establishment of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the Peace Palace, and a worldwide ecosystem dedicated to peace and justice.

Today, as we navigate a digitised world, the vision of peace and justice is under threat. A fragmented, under-resourced architecture faces relentless cyberattacks, jeopardising international organisations, nonprofits, and volunteers who support access to clean water, humanitarian aid, healthcare, justice, and refugee protection. Their cybersecurity remains an undervalued universal good.

Global commitment is crucial.

The City of The Hague, the CyberPeace Institute, and the Global Cyber Alliance hosted “Beyond 125 Years – Securing our Digital Future.” This was more than an event; it was a call to action. Building on successful initiatives like CyberPeace Builders and Common Good Cyber, the cybersecurity and humanitarian communities launched The Hague Beyond 125 Action Plan, which aims to ensure 10,000 NGOs have sustainable cybersecurity and AI-driven resilience by March 2027. Common Good Cyber supports this mission by ensuring we resource and fund adequately the cybersecurity nonprofits who deliver assistance and capacity building to NGOs and other high-risk communities, and those who secure the digital infrastructure for the common good.
