A pioneer in the tech industry, Craig Newmark is the founder of craigslist -the web-based platform that has fundamentally changed the classified advertising model- and a passionate advocate for leveraging technology for social good. Since its founding in 1995, craigslist has become one of the world’s 10 most-visited English language web platforms. Craig may humorously describe himself as ‘#nerdpatient0,’ attributing his success to serendipity rather than strategic planning. Yet, his vision has shaped the digital landscape, and his perspectives on cybersecurity and philanthropy promise to spark enlightening discussions.
Maab Ibrahim
As a philanthropic portfolio manager at Google.org, Maab Ibrahim works to accelerate the progress of nonprofits advancing social justice. Maab is known for her leadership roles in technology and security, and brings a global perspective to the Fireside Chat. As an advocate for diversity and inclusion in cybersecurity, Maab’s insights will advance a holistic conversation about the future of the industry.
Monica Ruiz
Monica Ruiz, a respected figure in cybersecurity policy, has been instrumental in shaping legislative frameworks to address evolving cyber threats. Prior to joining Microsoft, Monica was the Program Fellow for the Cyber Initiative and Special Projects at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. In her work on the Cyber Initiative, she supported efforts to build a more robust cybersecurity field and improve policy-making. Her experiences at the intersection of policy and technology provide a valuable perspective that is sure to enrich our understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the field.
Ron Gula
Ron is President at Gula Tech Adventures which focuses on investing in cyber technology, cyber policy and recruiting more people to the cyber workforce. Since 2017, GTA has financed dozens of cyber start-ups and funds and supported multiple cyber nonprofits and projects. As the co-founder of Tenable Network Security, Ron Gula is a cybersecurity expert with a focus on innovation and a commitment to advancing innovative cybersecurity solutions, and he brings a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and strategic insight to the table.
