Australia Joins Common Good Cyber Fund as Partner

On 25 July 2025, Australian and UK foreign and defence ministers met in Sydney for the annual Australia-UK Ministerial Consultations (AUKMIN). Among the wide-ranging AUKMIN discussions and announcements, there is good news for Common Good Cyber: Australia has joined the Common Good Cyber Fund as partner.

Originally launched on 23 June 2025 by the Prime Ministers of the UK and Canada under the G7 Rapid Response Mechanism, the Fund reflects a shared commitment among democratic nations to defend digital rights and uphold online safety. With Australia joining, the coalition continues to grow stronger and more coordinated.

From the statement:

33. The UK is pleased to welcome Australia as a partner to the Common Good Cyber Fund, designed to strengthen cybersecurity for individuals most at risk from digital transnational repression. The Fund was first launched by the Prime Ministers of the UK and Canada under the G7 Rapid Response Mechanism. This participation underscores the growing commitment among G7 partners and like-minded nations to counter this threat and to deliver support to those who may be targeted.

Common Good Cyber welcomes Australia as a new partner in the Fund.

As digital threats continue to grow, so too must our collective response. We seek more governments and donors ready to step up and invest in cybersecurity nonprofits doing the hard, often underfunded work of protecting those most at risk online. We also welcome non-financial contributions. Join us in this important effort. Reach out to [email protected] to get involved.
